Bring that Xcal and have a blast. All beaches in SC are public. No prohibitions on detecting. Just stay out of the dunes. There is a County beach park on isle of palms and one on folly beach that prohibit detecting in the parks but you can detect the beach in front of the parks. Expect competition as every tourist who owns a detector brings it with them when they come to visit. Then there are us locals to contend with. Folly beach was renourished last year so fresh drops will be the norm. If you see a decrepit, white haired old phart out swinging say high.
