Try disc at 1, sens at 7, threshold to your liking volume full bore run disc mode. Swing slow. You get the 8” coil or 10”. Man do I miss my excal days! Awesome machine with great audio. Good luck. Look forward to your videos.

What are you looking for, Silver, gold....relics, other? Not the best machine for heavy iron infested area's. If I get into a area I know that could be good I go in thinking dig all. But you have to have time to to keep it going. Most of the time I'll work a circle, digging all. Or long ways 10 foot area, and this is in the water only. No more or you will get discouraged. Amazing results can be had if the area is good, so many things hidden. You have the Nox, I would suggest it before the excalibur. Your going to need a good nonmetallic sifter also..

Discarded bread tray from behind local grocery store, Zip ties from Hardware store..1/4 mesh from McMaster Carr, rope from hardware store, then the brass loop from hardware store.
Buy the Fat noodle "3 inch" (green one pictured), NOT the 2.5 inch from Walmart...I just got a 3.5 inch from Amazon...for next season

I cut the bread tray sides off and left the handle for easy carrying and flipping in the water...

Do you not like your Equinox for water hunting? Seems like that and the small coil would be perfect for heavy iron water sites. I really loved the Excal but not in the iron you're describing.

The Xcal is a real slow recovery and it hates iron....... so it could stay in null if you use disc. BUT..... there is no simpler water machine to use. You end up using just two knobs.... sensitivity and threshold. In PP you can run full sensitivity..... there is basicly NO recovery time.... and you can run a bit more threshold than disc mode. Id have to say in fresh water where there is so much more trash than in salt...... you are in for a challenge over using the Nox. Obviously use it first for exploring whats there and getting what you can ...... then the Nox because if you dont you are going to be leaving some good targets.

I agree with OBN and dewcon. I'd run PP otherwise it will continually null out in heavy iron areas. In any case, you should sweep much slower than you're used to with the EQX and Deus. Adjust sensitivity to suit the conditions but I would start out at 6-7. Adjust threshold to suit and max out the volume.

Personally, I would get or make a dive shaft and use a sifter as described by OBN. In any event, you'll be digging and/or fanning a lot!

Good luck and soldier on...
